Hi, I’m Bob Gallagher and I’ve created photography and presentations in the Windsor/Essex County area of Canada for over 40 years. My work is in private collections around the world and in Canada’s National Archives and the Parliamentary Collection. I have produced presentations on five continents.
For those who want some background, I graduated from the University of Windsor with a degree in psychology and worked for the University’s Media Centre for a couple of years before returning to get a degree in Communication Arts. For two summers I attended the Banff School of Fine Arts in Banff, Alberta. The second year on full scholarship. Shortly after graduation I became the Director of Audio Visual Services for a local hospital. A few years later I went on to work for a photographer friend and then started my own studio. During this time I twice won the Southwestern Ontario Professional Photographer of the Year and the Detroit Professional Photograph of the Year honours. The Canadian Professional Photographers presented me with their Craftsman of Photographic Arts Degree.
For twenty years I returned to the University of Windsor to teach Photography and Visual Communications. I still bump into students who tell me how they daily use what they learned in that course.
As my work evolved I became more involved in the presentation aspect of the communications. Producing shows for the Windsor Star and the Windsor and District Chamber of Commerce. My computer skills brought me more business in web design (which I no longer do) and creating multimedia shows in PowerPoint and Keynote. Certainly my early work with multiple projector slide shows taught me a great deal about production and preparation.
Today I specialize in two areas of communications: presentations and fine art photography. My travel with work and Rotary International mean I get to many countries of the world. That allows me to take some extra time to photograph in very exotic locations. It’s a great life.
To finish off on a more personal note, I am a proud member of the Rotary Club of Windsor-Roseland and a Rotary Past District Governor. I’m married to a wonderful woman who loves travel as much as I. We have a marvellous daughter who now is a professional at the same hospital complex that I worked at out of university. It’s a small world.
